So I am thinking about buying this video card and have read conflicting reviews...

Is it a decent card for gaming / video editing?

ASUS EAH5870/2DIS/1GD5/V2 Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

Also, there are 3 outputs on the card...(I only hook up the one I want to use?)
1. HDMI
2. DVI
3. Display Port - What the heck is this?

The monitor has HDMI/DVI/VGA - I was thinking all I need is the HDMI cable and I am all set?

It does seem very hit and miss in terms of reliability with that card. How about this (the upgraded version of that card): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150506

Display Port is mostly used by Apple, and is another type of display adapter. It is good, because the adapter itself is tiny so you can easily connect lots of monitors to the same card.

Appreciate your response.

I am now thinking of the NVIDIA GTX 570

Better card? even then the upgraded radeon?

I think that the 570 will outperform the 6870 in most games, but it depends on the price difference; I think the 570 is about $60-$80 more iirc. If your budget can stretch to accommodate it, then go for it.
