July 22 price drop of E6600, E6420?

I keep seeing posts about a July 22 price drop on Core 2 duo E6600, but the only official word from Intel I see is that they're reducing the price of the Quad core but nothing about the E6600 or E6420 etc.

Is this fact or speculation?

AFAIK, Intel are not dropping the price of the e6600. However, they are introducing the e6750, which is cheaper than the e6600, runs at 2.66 GHz instead of 2.4 GHz, and has a higher FSB.

So it doesn't really matter about the e6600 not dropping in price, as you can get a better processor for less money. :)
