The mobo, RAM and cpu i want to upgrade to are on newegg.

Link: Mobo Cpu Combo http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.564906

Link: RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231180

Is this all compatible with my 500W power supply? i plan on buying a 1GB 128 bit video card shortly after christmas as a video card upgrade.

Thanks

The motherboard and CPU, look good. So does the RAM. A 500 W PSU should be adequate.

I agree.

An updated video card would also be a nice investment.

You realize that changing your motherboard is going to require a clean installation of Windows. This would be a good chance to upgrade to Window 7 and get the 64-bit version so as to take advantage of all 4gb of that ram.

I just got the mobo, cpu and ram but i cant seem to get into windows. does this mean i have to do a fresh install or upgrade?

everytime i try to start my pc it goes through the POST then when it starts to load windows i get the screen where i says that there was a hardware conflict and to choose safe mode, last known config or start windows normally.... i cant start safe mode no matter what option i choose

thing is, it'll keep doing the same thing. wont get into windows. what could this be? i was thinking MAYBE it was the power supply but i cant be sure. i was able to run Ubuntu through the dvd drive and do the LIVE cd part. maybe i need to do a fresh install

Yes, you need a fresh install of Windows.
