Please tell me what you guys think... My only concern right now is the monitor because I want to use it for my PS3 and Computer, I made a post in the "Multimedia" forum for that though.

Please let me know if you guys have any compatibility concerns and comments are welcome.

I don't see a computer case, and I'm not familiar with some of the brands, like the RAM and power supply, but I can certainly vouch for the motherboard, processor and video card! Should make for a mighty rig!

Nice rig mate. Mobo is very good.

Bit concerned about the ram.

HD is very good.

Have you actually built this comp yet  . I don't want to mess up plans but in the long run, and if this is for gaming, you really should go core 2 duo, not only will they trounce anything AMD has in terms of gaming but they are now a lot cooler.

May i suggest the E6600. It will be cheap in about a weeks time and will knock out anything AMD has to offer, even most of the FX series.

I love AMD. I have an AMD X2 computer as well as an Intel core 2 duo, and i hate admitting that Intel have pulled off something major with these new CPU's but the gaps between them in benchmarking in terms of performance is about 10 miles long.

By all means if your stuck on AMD, go for it, they make great CPU's, but in a few months time you will regret it especially with games such as crysis on the horizon.

I am loyal to AMD. And everyone I know personally that is IT and builds computers recommends AMD. I just can't go back and do intel I just don't see the stability.

Thanks for your comments.

What kind of ram would you guys recommend??? With the motherboard... I want it from Newegg and cheap good for gaming, the one i picked had good reviews and people posted it worked with the motherboard so that's why i chose that.

Sorry I didn't post the case it's because I already have it and I was going to but I forgot.

Here it is: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811112022

Btw the build is STILL IN THE WORKS! So i'm still not sure about everything yet so just let me know what you guys think.

I was just like you mate, AMD till the end.

But then when i had an unexpected run in with a faulty Fatal1ty (don't ever get one) motherboard i was forced to abort my AMD based gaming PC as my uncle had a brand new Intel mobo and core 2 duo that he gave to me.

And then when i saw the difference in performance it was astronomical. And considering they are better built than AMD's and they run a lot cooler. Not to mention they are much faster going back to AMD seems a bit silly.

But i guess some people are just too loyal, hey, i have an AMD dual core system myself as well :D .

Corsair TWINX XMS is probably the best for gaming. And it is fairly cheap as well.

Geil are also good.

Never have liked crucial memory as i don't think they can cut the mustard when it comes to gaming.

OCZ is also really good but can be a little pricey.

V nice case btw :) .

I'd go with intel atm or wait until the new wave of AMDs come out in Q3, including the Phenom and AM2+ socket - depends how long you are planning on waiting before building.

I built my computer at exactly the wrong time - ordered the components about 2 days before the Core2Duos were first announced... -.-'

Needless to say, I keep a closer eye on the market nowadays.

Oh, and nice case - I've worked with a few Lian Lis, and they have very good build quality and excellent cooling.

The new AMD CPU's are being brought out too late. Their new CPU's won't even be able to contend with the cores Intel have now. Which is sad because i was hoping they would pick themselves up and blast us away.

Corsair TWINX XMS is probably the best for gaming. And it is fairly cheap as well.

Fairly cheap? It's double the price and I'm only assuming built for overclocking. I don't plan to do that.

Out of the memory here, what would you guys recommend?

I see a lot of the OCZ has a lot of rebates, so I could go that route.

I am willing to spent ~$100... the ram I currently have picked out is $90 so I wouldn't mind spending an extra little bit to get that performance I might need later.

Here is the type of memory I need:

What would you say about this one? I've read that it would work on my MOBO.

Or this Crucial

Also can someone explain CAS LATENCY?

Sorry mate. Here in the UK it is quite cheap.

OCZ is excellent memory. Go with that

Well there's a problem with that... I saw 2 reviews saying that there were issues with my mobo and the OCZ memory.

So instead I'm gonna get the Crucial which will be $85.99 with rebate, same price basically as my A-DATA but it's overclockable!

(Edit: Here are the two options for memory)

Crucial... Posted that it works with my motherboard, but there might be some tweaking that has to go along with that. Seems like it's made for tweaking and overclocking even though I don't plan to overclock. Reviews are great.

OCZ... No one has posted that it works with my motherboard, but no one has posted it hasn't. Has beastly looking heat sinks on it. Nearly the same price as crucial and they look like they're ub0r high-performance.

Jesus christ do you know how much reaper memory is here in the UK

Its about £120 which if my maths is right is just over $200 and its $129 in the states. Now thats a bargain.

I know someone with that memory and that motherboard and they have never had any problems.

Asus motherboards don't have a problem with what memory they accept or not, well not in general. They will usually just accept anything you put in them, unlike Abit motherboards which only work with Corsair.

Ballistix memory is also very good.

So the point of this post was useless :p . Its down to you mate, Personally i would go for OCZ.

You had a friend that used the OCZ or the Crucial with my MOBO?

Jamie Nixx
07-19-2007, 06:31 PM
I have a friend with the reaper memory in the Asus mobo you chose yes. He never has any problems or has had any probs.

Like i said Asus generally do not have a problem with memory and i know because i have had quite a few asus mobo's and i am running a core 2 duo one now.

I suggested corsair which is probably the best for gaming.

Here is a link to newegg. It is cheaper than both the memory kits you chose and is better. Lifetime warranty as well.

Sounds like an AMD Intel battle brewing save that one for another forum, all fanboys unite as one under mysuperpc. I use what ever is at the sweet spot as far as cost go's. One day it's Intel the next it's AMD.
