Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I'm a seasoned builder. I have been upgrading and building PCs for the last 10 years. Anyway, I haven't built a PC in 2 years (Q6600, was my last build) and I haven't kept up with the new tech, although I did a lot of reading the last few days.
Right now, I just ordered a bunch of parts from newegg, bought a new case from fry's electronics. Don't have a big limit with $$ as I wanted to build a powerful gaming 3D PC (3D Vision Surround). Here is what I ordered...
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
(x2) EVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 (2 way SLI)
(x2) Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM (Raid 0)
CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-950TX 950W SLI Ready
Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core
EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel
Motherboard
(x3) Acer GD235HZbid 23.6" 2ms Widescreen 1080p 120Hz NVIDIA 3D Vision LCD Monitor
NVIDIA 3D Vision Glasses Kit Model 942107010003001
Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Full Tower ATX Case
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
I would like to get other builders' opinions on my new build, and also, I'm considering getting a 3rd video card for a 3 way SLI setup. on the motherboard specs it mentions 16x 16x 8x, so I'm assuming the 3rd PCI-E only does 8x? is it even worth going for 3 way SLI? btw the full build (not including mouse and keyboard or speakers) cost me $3,100
