Board:SL-75KAV soltek

system:XP HOME
CPU:AMD ATHLON 1.34
Memory:256MB SDRAM

I have tried to upgrade the memory by adding an extra 512mb sitck but the system wont boot up. i get a black screen with various error messages on, i then have to switch off & remove the new stick then start up in safe mode to reset things.
the new stick is sdram and 133 speed the same as the one already installed

do i need to do something to the motherboard to tell it it has new/extra memory.

seems like an interesting site you have set up.

thanks

Is it Crucial brand memory? If not then I'd suggest returning it and using the Crucial Memory Advisor to get the right RAM for your motherboard. Crucial guarantees their memory to work. You should not have to do anything to the motherboard to let it know you have more memory.

See this page for the Crucial Memory Advisor.
