Hi all. Would appreciate some advice on a new system I am planning to put together. I would essentailly like to use it for gaming (ffxiv and civ 5) and for my introduction to programming courses (java and c). I have two matters in particular which I can not decide on:
i)I really like the AMD Phenom II x4 Black edition 3.4 processor but I have read a bunch of positive reviews for the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz and the ability to overclock it for additional performance power. This is my first system and I have zip exp in overclocking - should I just go ahead and stick with X4??
ii) Can't decide on a GPU. Would like to spend in a price range of 150-175.

Below I list the parts, so please take a look to check for compatability and outdated hardaware. finally thanks for your efforts.

rick thanks for the suggestion. I read over some reviews and many mentioned the card works like a charm but others unfortunately noticed some overheating issues. What do you make of this? Should this be a concern? Also do you have advice on my overall hardware selection. Thanks

It's an excellent build. I would go with the X4 processor.

The only real concerns I've heard on the GTX460 is that it's a bit of a power hog. With fan control, you can keep it cool.
This one is a nice contender too.
