I have created WD data lifeguard tool CD. When I boot it from the dvd drive I receive a message " can not boot from DOS press any key to retry " . My bios boot order is DVD drive first. Please help. cpu e6600 dual core, motherboard p35db.

Do you have an operating system on the HD?

Right ok. I don't think you can boot any other cd other than windows the first time you build your comp.

Yes, I try to boot from authentic legal window xp cd got this error message :
" A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appear again , follow these steps:
Check for virus on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drive or hard drive controller. Check your hard drive make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer." Don't know what this means please help. Thanks.

Now it is either the cd itself or its a hardware problem more than likely the HD.

Can you post your COMPLETE pc spec please.

Right now something i have gone through.

The same thing happened and it turned out to be the ram and the HD (not damaged just being buggers).

Take out all of your ram and put only one stick in.

If you have any partitions on your HD delete them all and format it (windows gives you the option to do this)
