PCI x 16 question

My video card died in my 2007 supercomputer. The slot is for PCI x 16.
I am looking at cards now and they show pci x 16 1.0 and 2.0 and 2.1. Will they all work or what? I am out of the loop lol.
My MOBO is an ASUS P5N32-E.
My old card was a EVGA 8800 640mb superclocked

All the newer cards should work just fine. You could even run 2 nvidia cards in SLI.
