My First Gaming Computer! Checking Hardware!

Hey everyone!
As the title claims, I am building my first gaming computer and have a list of the parts I plan on buying and I just wont to see if anyone can help tell me if these parts are compatible with one another or not. Now with this current build i'm just below $1000 and would prefer to stay that way so keep in mind I am on a bit of a budget. Any help would be incredibly appreciated and look forward to your comments. The screen i'm using is a Dell S2409W 24 inch WidescreenFlat Panel just in case that info is needed.
I plan on playing games such as Starcraft 2, and CoD.

Welcome to the forums.

Compatibility is not a problem. However, you're putting together a system with parts that are 2 generations old.

You could get a GTX460 1gb video card for the same amount of money as that GTX260 and it would be much much faster.

Have you looked at LGA1156 motherboard and cpu?
Have you considered AMD?

There are better options than what you have listed and still be within your budget.

Which is a big improvement over my original pick. As far as the motherboard goes I've found several LGA 1156's but I don't know enough about them to determine which would be a good gaming one. The motherboard would preferably need to be in $80-$90 range. So if you can help me find a good motherboard that would be great. I appreciate any help!! thanks again!

It appears to be a pretty sturdy board and has several good remarks about it but what do you think? Also do you think the Processor I chose is up to date as well?? Wasn't sure if i would need to go after a AMD processor to match that board.

You don't really need the Artic Freezer cooler, and motherboards have really good onboard audio, so you could eliminate the sound card too.
