Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm thinking about building my own gaming computer.

Here's the following parts I have looked at and are planning to buy. But before I buy it, I just want to make sure that everything is compatible and will work.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi BigB, welcome to the forums.

Your motherboard is socket 1156 but your CPU is socket 1366, so they aren't compatible. You will need an X58 motherboard to be compatible. I have always been partial to Gigabyte (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423 for example) but there are plenty of other good products available.

The PSU you specified also has a lot of negative reviews. I would recommend the Corsair 650TX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005, which is a great PSU and an absolute bargain at $70 after Mail-in-rebate.

Okay, I couldn't find a Gigabyte motherboard that came in a bundle, but I did find this.

Also, are any of my parts overkill? Could I get some parts cheaper but still retain good quality? I'm still a newbie at building computers and overclocking so I probably won't be doing anything too serious. Just want some good parts for a decent gaming computer.

Hello BigB. Welcome.

That EVGA motherboard would be just fine. Not sure what kind of bundle you're looking for, but the Gigabyte board that Wise Monkey was referring to has some better features.

The Rosewill cases are ok, but kind of cheap. The Antec 900 you originally listed is much better. Check out the 902, it's even better.

Also, the GTX465 is dead. Look for the GTX460 1gb. It's the newest version.

A mid tower is really big. I have the Antec 900 and there's plenty of room. I can't imagine anything bigger.

The only difference I see when comparing the 2 is that one is DDR3 1333 and the other is DDR3 1600. What exactly does the 1333 and 1600 mean? Which one will my mother support?

So my question is, is the 650W enough? Or should I get the 750W? Even if the 650W is enough, is it worth the extra $50 to get the 750W. Is there anything different between the 2 besides the wattage it provides? Pros and cons?

I have updated my parts list to reflect the latest ones I have research and currently decided on.

It all looks good BigB. Very nice setup. The 650 watt psu is plenty to run that system.
