I am installing a quad core on my next machine (just getting it up and running now). I have read a few issues about the multi-core machines that they typically only use one core. Is there software out there that can:

1. Help me determine if more than one quad is being used?
2. Enable the workload to be shared among the cores even if the software in question doesn’t take advantage of it?

Any other hints and tips would be appreciated

Hi noobonian, welcome to the forums.

If you look in the standard Windows task manager, it should show all of the CPU activity on all cores of the CPU.

Unfortunately, I don't think that you can force a piece of software to use more cores if it hasn't been written to support this functionality.
