This thread is about a Rogue Version of Microsoft Security Essentials.
Much to my surprise on last Sunday when I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware just as a routine, I was told I had a "Rogue.FakeMicrosoft Security Essentials" program installed. There were three infections, one to "Registry Keys", and two to "Infected Files".
Not sure when it happened nor what symptoms were evident. I have had a string of blue screen crashes, when I open or close a file, in a random manner lately.
What matters is that Malwarebytes caught it and removed it from three locations. Later I ran the real MSE and Malwarebytes once more with "normal no infections or problems" results from both programs.
Does not speak well for Microsoft in the Malware / anti-virus area!!
