Hello,

I bought a Hyper 212 for my cpu, and when I first turned my system on, it was fine. But I turned it off, and came back in later on and turned it on, and the fan came on for a minute, but then turned off. I had to shut the computer down immediately for fear of burning my cpu up.

I plugged the cooler that came with my intel chip, and it worked fine.

What should I do?

P.S. Also, I have a wireless keyboard, and I think the usb port is not working, because the keyboard won't work.

Thanks

It was the bios. I just reset them, and it worked. But there is still the usb issue, though...

Also, instead of BIOS coming up, I get "Disc boot error" and it tells me to insert a disc and press enter. Is this normal?

My case only came with H.D.D. led, power, and reset. Should there be other wires like "sleep", etc?

Also...I didn't hear a "beep" when I booted for the first time. Is this bad? My case didn't come with a "speaker" led.

Thanks.

OK, lets try and answer some of these:

1. The Disk Boot thing is normal. It means that it is trying to boot from the hard drive, but can't as you haven't (I assume) install the OS yet.
2. For the wireless keyboard, I think that there is an option to enable USB devices in the BIOS. If you have a spare keyboard it might be worth trying that out in the same port, and a different one, to see if it is the port that is the problem or a setting elsewhere.
3. Not having a case speaker is not a problem. It may be useful for error beeps, but it is not essential.

So not having a case speaker doesn't mean that I won't have sound when the computer is all good to go?

Is there any other way to know if everything is fine?

Haha you are the first person to suggest that not having the speaker for the mobo isn't detrimental. :)

Heh, the case speaker is just a way of expressing error beeps if there are any problems. The actual sound is available through the circular ports at the back of the PC, but you will need to connect speaker/headphones for that.

You can live without error beeps, but they are useful to hear if you need any troubleshooting. Then again, if everything is working correctly, then it isn't a problem. :)

I will continue on with the build, then. You truly are a wise monkey :P
