I am getting ready to order the parts for my first build, but I have a question first. I am going to order this case: http://www.amazon.com/Antec-Sonata-III-500-Quiet/dp/B000QAVVAM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271627102&sr=1-1
Do I still need to buy the 750 watt power supply that is in the high end build sticky? Will 500 watts be enough for the computer?
Thanks

It depends on the rest of the components of your build. Can you list them out?

What graphics card are you going to use?
if u arnt going to use a graphics card, your power supply is fine.

Awesome setup lorizzle.
I'm a little curious about your choice of case. You have a very high-end system, but the Sonata is kind of a low budget case. Have you considered anything else?
A PS2 keyboard? Really? :)
btw, your psu is more than adequate.

Haha, well I don't know what ps2 keyboard means :)
I can try to look around for different cases...do you recommend any?
I just realized that there isn't a graphics card in the lineup (unless I am missing it). If i am going to be using it for gaming, I'll need one, right?

Lorizzle: There are some inconsistencies in your posts which leads to some confusion as to what you really want to do.
First, I suggest you tell us what your primary use for your new build is intended to be! You refer to "gaming" using the term "If I want to do gaming" (EDIT. Sorry, I misread your last post; you do intend to use the computer for gaming), yet the i7-930 processor is a serious "overclocking" CPU which means it is for serious "gaming". Under these conditions it also uses a heck of a lot of wattage and will require a good cooler (not on your build list).
Your choice of psu is fine as long as you use only one video card, such as the HIS H585F1GDG Radeon HD 5850.
In your build list, you inadvertently left out listing the GPU card, but you did include the link to it (it is included but hidden). Look at the link under your hard drive listing; it is the GPU link for the card I mention above.
The next three links and their respective listings are also "off" by one, meaning the link is for the written listing one step or listing above. The link left out is the Sonata case link.
Regards the case; the Sonata III 500 comes with a 500 watt psu and is too small for an overlocked i7-930. The Corsair 750 watt is fine. Since the Sonata comes with a psu, you probably should choose a new case.
Regards the keyboard and the PS-2 term, PS-2 refers to a old IBM spec for a early 2003 or earlier connector to a computer. My old microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard has such a connector (around the year 2003 for mine), but you can still buy a keyboard with PS-2 connector. But your mobo does not have a rear panel connector for it, so the PS-2 plug cannot be used on your mobo pick.
I suggest you use the Microsoft 7000 desktop wireless keyboard and mouse (same mouse as you already chose). Here is the link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823109038
Back to my first suggestion, tell us what your main use for the computer is or why did you pick the "high end" build. If you are already not a serious gamer, maybe you do not want this very fast CPU.
Disclaimer: I am not a gamer at all, but I think my statements above regards gaming are correct; if not, I assume serious gamers such as Ricky, Wise Monkey, Sean or others will correct any misconceptions on my part.

I am about to post a final look on my parts to be ordered, so I will fix the above mistakes in that post.
I do intend to use it for gaming mostly, but it will also just be a home computer for my husband and I to use.
I will take your advice about the keyboard, thanks!
