correct me if im wrong, you cannot crossfire 2 different cards together, for example a 5870 with a 5850 correct?

but my real question is can you crossfire the same card made by different people, for example, a HIS 5870 with a XFX 5870? or do the cards have to be identical? HIS 5870 with a HIS 5870, XFX with XFX?

You can crossfire two different cards, but it will run at the slower card's speed.
