First of all... Hi :) im Sean. I live in SoCal 20 miles south east of Los Angles.

i just paid someone to build me a rig, and its pretty dang quick, but after 3Dmark and PCmark tests there is a lot of growing room. i literally just got this computer 3 weeks ago and im trying to sell it.

it has:

an AMD phenom II 650 quad core processor over clocked to 3.8ghz
4 gigs of DDR3 Ram
and a Radeon 5870

those are the main processing parts of my computer. dont get me wrong its quick, i run everything at max ( not maxed ) on Crysis at 30 - 40 fps. good, but i want more!!!

here are the 3Dmark and PCmark Benchmark Results: As you can see its pretty quick.

But its not Fast enough. so like i said if i can sell my computer this is what i have come up with. ive spent the last few days shopping around reading and watching reviews on almost every part of this computer. and from what i can tell, itll be pretty Beastly. Please let me know about every aspect of what you think about this computer. i came here because i dont know what im doing and you folks do. so feel free to tare my computer apart.

heres My rig, built to handle Crysis at maxed everything ( at under $1800 )

total: $1691

i have some questions:

1. i heard there is no hardware difference between the different i7's ( 920, 930, 975 ) the only difference is the factory clock speed? myth or fact? i plan on Over clocking my i7 to 3.8 or 4ghz, ( thats why im getting the water cooler )

2. Will an ATI Radeon 5970 fit in my case?

3. i was going to get an Asus Maximus Formula III Mother board, but i dont think i need it, so i went with this one. But, this one does not support 1600 Ram, so i sacrificed some performance for saving some money on both the mother board and ram, this mother board only supports 1333 Ram. is that going to be a big difference?

i cant think of any other questions right now....

So let me know what you think about this new rig.

Thanks

That's the wrong ram for that motherboard. For the X58 mobo, you'll want triple channel ram. I would suggest a 6gb kit (3x2gb) of DDR3 1333.
You would also be better off stepping up to the i7-930 for only a few dollars more.
The Antec 300 is nice, but I'm really digging the new cases that are painted black on the inside too. It's just a really nice touch.
Otherwise, your build looks good.

hey thanks for the reply...

could you give me a link to the right ram, id appreciate that.

Also, do you know if a 5970 will fit in my case?

i took off the i7 920 and put a 930 in my list ( on notepad .txt file on my computer )

Thanks go out to Rodney Reynolds. Watch this video.

In short, no it will not fit.

Here's some ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231223

This is one of the few mid-tower cases that will hold a 5970.

This is also a mid-tower case that holds a 5970 and has the cool black interior. Very nice case.

With a i7-930 and a 5970, this thing will be blazing fast.

Will 6 gigs of ram be enough?

and how much faster do you think this computer is going to be than the one i have now? like 40% + - ?

6 gbs is plenty for gaming and everyday usage.

Maybe you could go to PCMark and find a similar built system and see what kind of benchmark scores they are getting. Should be a fair comparison.

awe man, i am slowly loosing my mind over this computer...

i dont even know why im really worrying about building this computer, i cant build this computer unless i sell the computer i have now, which i dont think i will be able to do.

im worried about there being enough connectors on the mother board, is the mother board good enough for what i want to do with it, will the mother board be able to handle a 5970, why does this mother board need tri channel ram, is tri channel ram better or worse than regular ram, can i modify the antec 300 case to fit a 5970 with out compromising the strength of the case, will the cables on the power supply be long enough, will the power supply come with the right cable i need, is a 850W power supply enough power, is 6 gigs enough ram, is the graphics card going to cover any of the slots for cables on the mother board, ive read that north bridge on the mother board runs hot and i dont even know what that means, can the mother board accept a corsair H50 water cooler, is there going to be enough room in the case for the water cooler and radiator...

im loosing my mind!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
