First off, I owe a great deal to this site. Thank you.

Now, I am looking to put my old HDD in a new build (MB, CPU, etc) because I am trying to save a buck.

I have a new OS to install (win 7) to go along with the build. My question is, and forgive my ignorance - I am a novice, my old HDD has XP on it. Will this cause problems when I put it into the new system and try to install the new OS? Would I be better off eraqsing the HDD before I try to put it in? If so, how do I do that?

I am hoping that all I will have to do is install the new software in the new build and it will re-partition the HDD without having to erase anything, but do not know. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

As part of the Windows installation, it will ask you where you want to install the OS to. Make sure to delete the existing partition and format the HD before installing.
