I have a really strange audio problem. I have at least some static on my audio, from youtube right down to sometimes even during the little ding noise it makes when you change the main volume level on the computer. I tried different headphones, speakers, messing around with all the realtek sound manager settings, and nothing worked.

I was thinking I need to buy a sound card, but then I noticed something very odd, my audio is perfect in winamp, no static at all. I'm so confused.

Ignoring the sometimes static on my main audio ding, I thought maybe it's just a problem with flash (since it happens with flv files on my computer when played with flash player rather than through winamp, and youtube, pandora, any website). I updated flash, and tried the latest versions of three different browsers. Then I tried downgrading. No luck.

Anybody have any ideas? I'm running windows xp, if that matters.

Try uninstalling the hardware via the device manager, then scan for new hardware and install it using the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.
