Dual Hard Drives and the Swap File Configuration

I'm building my first PC as outlined in another thread (http://forums.mysuperpc.com/showthread.php?t=3061)and am considering using two hard drives. Some time ago I recall reading about how to set up a dual hard drive configuration to speed up a PC by isolating the Swap File. I just can't remember the configuration for everything. Two drives handle OS, Apps, Swap File and data files (music, docs, pictures, etc). Does anyone know how to best set this up? With faster drives and more memory in PCs these days is it even much of a benefit to have multiple drives? Would I be better off with a RAID configuration if I did have multiple drives?
