So my 8 year old desktop decided not to work anymore, so i am looking to replace it. Not sure if i should build one or buy one, whatever it is i just want something that is very reliable and well built components. The last time i really looked at possibly building a computer things were still pentium 4 and it seemed like much less to choose from.
I am going to use this computer for web, pictures, watching video (hd if possible), and very little gaming. After reading over many sites the last few days i am pretty sure i want an Intel Core i5 750.
I would like to keep the price of the computer under $700 not including monitor, keyboard or mouse.
Besides that just reliable components is my main thing. I figure if i can get a motherboard with HD built in it will be good enough for now.
My needs are pretty basic so not sure if buying a prebuilt core 2 may be better.
Thanks for any help

This is what i came up with that looked like a decent system. it comes up to 638, so it is within my budget. Should i look at changing anything or will this be a pretty reliable system? Also would this be pretty upgradeable later? thanks.

You're going to need a video card. I would recommend the Radeon HD 5670. Looks like this is going to bust your budget a little.

You don't really need an extra video card just for HD video as that motherboard has built-in graphics. Just be aware that if you decide to do any gaming at all, then the onboard stuff just won't cut it.
Everything else looks good.

Try this on for size.

CPU i5-750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215
MOBO Asus H55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131625
Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102869
RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231180
Hard Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073
Optical Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151188
This comes out to $744. Like WM said, you could skip the video card if you don't game. But if you plan to play some games then you'll need the video card.

the cpu, mobo, and hard drive are pretty much a done deal then. the video card i really dont think i need that much, is there something else i can use that will save me some money and be reliable? ( i see that i do need to have one though so thanks)
