Background info: I'm looking to replace the cooler on my nVIDIA GeForce 9600GT. I am thinking about getting the ARCTIC COOLING Accelero S2 VGA cooler (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186017). It is supposed to perform pretty well, and I find the idea of not having a loud fan appealing. I don't game that much, so I just want quiet performance.

My question: People repeatedly complain about the memory heat sinks not sticking to the memory. Do video cards typically already have memory heat sinks pre-installed? Or do they usually not come with heat sinks because they come with fans? I'm trying to figure out how much of a problem this unreliable memory heat sink thing is going to be.

Thanks!

I suppose I could buy alternative memory heat sinks (http://www.acousticpc.com/zalman_vga_heatsinks_zmrhs1.html) and hope that they stick better than the Arctic Cooling ones. Any thoughts?

That's for a fanless gpu.

That won't work on a 9600GT. You need the REV 2 model.

That's strange, according to Arctic Cooling's website (http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_&mID=106) both S1 Rev.2 and S2 are compatible with 9600GT.

Still, the S1 Rev.2 does look like a better product, so I may just go with that. Also, I will buy Arctic Silver thermal adhesive for the RAM sinks, since obviously those are known to fall off easily...
