Can I save a few bucks?

I have an old Gateway Micro ATX tower case that measures 15.75 Tall X 7.75 Wide X 12.0 Deep. Do you think I could save a few bucks and squeeze your build my own PC hardware into it?

You will need to buy a micro ATX motherboard, which will severely limit your choices in terms of peripherals and graphics cards.

To be honest, you would be better off buying a new case.
