First Timers shopping list

Ive decided to try and build a PC instead of buying a new one, my old PC didn't survive the couch crushing it during my recent move, luckily the HDs were salvageable lol

Anyways, ive put a fair amount of research into what components im considering, but being as i am new to this odds are i overlooked something, so if anyone has some suggestions please share :)

If it helps, i am building this system with the plan of utilizing ATI CrossFireX in the future, but ultimately I am building a machine for gaming.

Some concerns i had was if i chose the right PSU and I'm not 100% sure if the CPU i linked comes with heatsink and fan. If not i was considering the Cool Master Hyper N520 (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4434989&CatId=4314).

Lastly given what i listed should i be looking at RAM and HD cooling?

I would start by making this suggestion for a power supply. It has a much better track record than the Apevia, and the reviews are much better too.

12gb of ram is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much, not too mention the $400 price tag. 6gb is more than enough. Try this instead.

Use the money saved from the ram and go with the 5870 video card.
Check out this monster. This will play any game at max settings. In a year or so, you could add one for crossfire, but I doubt you'll need it.

The WD Caviar Black is more of a "high performance" drive than the Green, plus it has a 5 year warranty as opposed to the Green's 3 year warranty.

I greatly appreciate your recommendation on PSU, i was really having trouble figuring out which to use.

And in regards to the monitor... this is going to sound nuts, but i never even considered it, the system I'm replacing could just barely play most games at lowest settings, In my research and planning for this system i was enthralled in the idea of actually seeing shadows lol, im going to have to look up some monitors... any suggestions?

Where ever you go, you'll find most people recommending a non-TN monitor. However, if your main purpose is gaming and basic web surfing type stuff, it only makes sense to go with a TN panel since it costs so much less.

I personally have a 22inch Samsung that is wonderful, but I wish I had a 24 inch.
