Hey all. Just jumped in to an Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (Toldeo Core) for $159 Canadian to throw in to my current Athlon 64 3200+ system (Winchester). My old chip just wouldn't overclock very much stabily, so I left it at stock for the last couple of years. I didn't want to buy new motherboard/ram/graphics card just yet, as I'm waiting to see what the next gen AMD chips can do, and since I'm giving this machine to my fiancee when I decide to build a totally new system for myself, I couldn't resist the (comparatively) cheap upgrade of just buying a dual core Athlon CPU that supposedly overclocks well.

My motherboard is the Gigayte K8NS-939 F9. What air cooling solution would you recommend with this chip? Is the AMD stock HSF going to give me 80% of the oc'ing potential or less? What kind of overclocking results do you all think I can get, and what settings have you found to be stable on your own system if you have this chip? I've seen a few people saying they've gotten 2.85GHz out of it with reasonable temps. Can anyone here confirm this?

Thanks in advance to all who reply!

I would heartily recommend the Zalman CNPS9500: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4C8C&CategorySelectedId=11258&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11258,4294956808,50440

This is an excellent fan - my 4200+ runs really cool, and its been overclocked to over 3ghz!
