Install window xp on external hard drive?

Hi can i copy the whole windows xp from my pc to another external hard drive exp: seagate 500GB. In case i don't have to reinstall or format the whole thing in my pc again.

There are several programs that can create a whole hard drive image for you - things like Symantec Ghost and Acronis TrueImage are two very good options. If you are looking for something free, then Clonezilla is an excellent alternative:
