My first posting is a question
In 2006 I spent $1800 on a HP Pavilion D4100y. It worked great for 25 months, warranty was 24 months. To make this short I found the problem to be a burnt pin on the motherboard in the processor connection. I have spent a small fortune before I figured this out. Most of the people who work on these are not much more technically savvy than I am.
My Question: Can I replace my motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 LGA775 processor and still use my existing case and hard drives and other components in the case? I would like to salvage as much as I can from my mistake with HP. I have NO experience with making changes to the BIOS. Anything help would be greatly appreciated.
