This recommended drive is "deactivated" on the Newegg website. Anybody have an idea for a similar drive with LIGHTSCRIBE?

That one is an IDE interface.
Just scanning through Newegg, they don't have any optical drives in stock that are SATA. I wonder what's going on.

Oops, should read the description more carefully. :D
Perhaps Newegg is waiting on a big shipment in the near future? :/

I gave up and ordered the LG SATA DVD writer GH221S50. I hope I did not make a mistake here, but for under $30 it would not be a big one...
Thanks for all your help.

Sorry if this answer is a bit late. A week or so ago I saw both of these and decided to figure out the difference. After searching the net, I had nothing, so I called Samsung. If you want to confuse them call and ask them which of their products is better. After 20 of being on hold and bouncing from one person to the next, they connected me with product support who thought I had one of the drives and was calling about a problem. I explained I wanted to buy one and was trying to see which was better. He looked them up on his system and said they look the same to him, just buy which ever one was cheaper. By the time I tried to order it, they were both out of stock, but my LG works great.
