I need some help. Posted this but no replys

I am a My Super PC graduate and have built two PC's. The last one was early 2007. At the time I used the AMD Athalon duel core 64 with a MSI K9N Platinum. It died last week and trouble shooting with MSI user help it has been determined that the MB is dead and probably the processor too.

Here is the question. If I have to upgrade the processor and MB what should I use? I have a Antec Sonota case and Thermaltake Volcano cooler (huge) and the typical other components that went with the My Super PC of that era. Will I have to upgrade the cooler and the Crucial Balistic memory as well? Geese I don't want to start all over. I guess I could go to Ebay and see what I can find in direct replacement. Maybe since it has only been two years I can get the old MB and processor.

Any help appreciated.

Hey, give us a chance... :/

Anyhoo, your motherboard was an AM2 socket, so you will be able to use any CPU that is either AM2 or AM2+ and that cooler will still fit.

As for RAM, it depends on what kind it is - is it DDR or DDR2? Almost every motherboard these days supports DDR2, so you will be OK if that is the case.

Sorry I guess I was a little stressed. Thats my main computer and gets a lot daily use. That is great news. It is DDR2 memory and you have given me what I need to get going again. Thanks again and Sorry again.

It's OK, we all know how stressful it can get if your main PC just decides to stop working. :)
