This is my proprosed plan for my 1st time build
Any pointers would be good

CPU - AMD X2 4200 AM2 2.2GHz
Mobo - ASUS AM2 ???
Memory - 2Gb DDR2 667Mhz RAM
Graphics - nVidia GeForce 7600 GT 256MB DDR3 PCIe DVI
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 500Gb
Optical drive - LiteOn 20X DVD
Case and PSU - Galaxy III ATX case w/ 450W PSU

This all comes to just under £400 and i was wondering whether it would all work together and if i have got a piece of hardware that is out of date or not worth it. I was also interested in another CD/DVD drive if anyone has any suggestions???
Will this also be compatible with Vista?

Overall those components should make for an effective computer at a nice price. Lite-On is a popular maker of optical drives and a favorite of mine. NEC is also a good choice.

What do you guys think of this? The first one is my preferred option and i buy 2gb ram to replace the memory already there.

Or this one where i buy the same graphics card as before - dodgy reviews on this one though

Can anyone reccomend me a graphics card around £60 (english) in stead of the nVidia GeForce 7600 GT which i can get for £59?

I have changed the LiteOn to an HP DVD 1040i - is this good or not for £24?

You may want to get a slightly more powerful CPU if you can afford it - I recommend the 5600+ for about £100.

I have had the 7600GT for about 1 year now, and it is a fantastic card - runs most games like a dream.
