I am in the process of purchasing MoBo GIGABYTE GA-MA780G and need to know if both types of mem will work on this board? I would also like to know, of the two, which is better.

Hey Tom.

The DDR2 1066 would be better. Here's a couple of good choices.

Most of the ram like this may require a voltage change in the BIOS. Ram is not very expensive these days, so I'd be somewhat reluctant to buy it on ebay. jmo

Thanx RickeTick. This is going to be a system build for my daughter. She'll only be web surfing and playing games such as Sims. That's why I was looking at the memory I mentioned. 'm not looking for a super performer.

What are the rest of the system specs?
Are you wanting to stay within a certain price range?
Have you looked at our recommended Budget Build and Budget Build PLUS+?

:) Well it seems to be a work in progress. I am riping apart a very old system Shuttle AK39. Within the last several months I've tried to resurrect it.... not much luck. With that having been said, this is what I do have;

case - new 550 power supply - new GeForce 7600gt vid card - A new 500gb Segate hdd (this is another case I will need to address later. I have loaded a brand new copy of Win XP on this drive and hope to be able to install this hdd and still run the Win XP on it) I have a AMD 64 X2 4200 cpu (new) and a wifi card. So I'm looking at the GIGABYTE GA-MA780G-UD3H MoBo and the G.Skill Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ. I have the DVD Drives. my only other item I"ll be looking for is a multi card reader.
