My budget is $700 or less. Just wanted to get that out of the way first;)

Hello, I am trying to build myself a new computer. I plan to use it for image editing (not video) and moderate gaming. I don't really want the latest and greatest for gaming. I just want to play mostly non-graphically intense games at a resonable speed(wow mostly). I am very new when it comes to building computers.

The main thing I need help with is knowing whether or not all the parts are compatiable and if they will all fit in the case. I might have missed a few key parts to building a computer, so if I missed any parts please feel free to tell me.

I prefer to keep it Intel but I will change if there is somthing else cheaper, and still works moderately good.

I am not reusing anything from any old computers, except for the OS(window's xp)
So I am basicly building this thing from the ground up.

If anybody has any reconmodations on how to make this cheaper, feel free to tell me:D

It might seem sorta weird that I listed every single thing that is going into this PC but I want to make sure that every single thing is compatable.

Feel free to give me any recommendations on this build.

Hello Greyfox. Welcome to the forums. Sorry no one responed earlier.

A few suggestions here.

Do you really need the 3.5 floppy? I know its not much money, but they are pretty much obsolete these days. Everything is on DVD or downloadable.

Take a look at this video card. Same price, but should be a better performer.

Also look at this ram. A proven performer, and the price is right.

Check out this case/psu combo. This is a little more than the one you listed, but this is a very nice setup and another proven performer. Just a suggestion.

You mentioned using an OS from an old PC. Are you sure you have a real installation disc? If its from a Dell, Gateway, HP or something like that, you probably just have an image disc.

What do you think?

I'll take the Floppy Disk Drive out.

Took your reconmation on the video card and RAM but not the case.

Yes the OS came from a Gateway...Will Linux work in this bulid if that OS can't work on this. because I really can't afford a OS untill windows 7 comes out, whenever that happens.

Thanks for your help so far.

Linux should work fine, but you may be somewhat limited when it comes to gaming. Check the software that you use regularly and the games you play to make sure they will run on Linux.

You can buy a system builders version of Vista or XP for around $100, but I certainly understand budget constraints.

Hope that's helpful.
