Hi Rob and fellow forum members,
I built a system using Rob's site and expertise 4 years ago. It is performed beautifully!! Many thanks.
It stopped working this week. Technicians that I brought it to said it needs a motherboard, power supply and graphics card. With labor will be $500.
The questions is and the recommendation I am looking for from the forum is:
Should I get the parts and try to assemble myself? Let them put them in and pay them labor? Or, get a new system?
Your suggestions will and are appreciated. Thanks.

jp

The unit is four years old:
Antec Sonata case with true 380s power supply
msi k8n neo platinum nForce 3 250 board with amd athlon 64 socket754 cpu chipset
western digital caviar se 120gb ata/100 hd 3.5lp 8mb 7200 hard drive
ati radeon 9800 pro 380mhz/680 mhz DDR 128mb agp8x dvi out graphics card
creative labs sound blaster audigy 2zs sound card
Sony 710A 16x dvd RW dual layer player
crucial 256 mb pc3200 ddr memory

Thanks.
jp

Hey jp, and welcome to the forums.

I think the answer is easy. Its time for a new pc.

Take a look at our recommended Budget Build, and the Budget Build PLUS+.

Yeah, don't give them $500 to replace components that will cost you half of that. You did it before, you can do it again. If you want to re-use your case and the optical drive, you can drop the Antec Sonata III from the recommended list and just add a power supply.
