I am looking to get a new keyboard but I want one where the keys can be seen in the dark. I mainly us the computer for work and surfing the net and games on the side as much as two children and a spouse will allow. :p

I have looked at the Saitek Eclipse II, but wanted to check and see if anyone had any experience with it or if someone had a better suggestion.

I'd like to keep the price around $50, but could easily be tempted for a bit more if the product was worthy. (I'm a sucker for new toys! :D)

Thank you for your time and for all the wonder information I have already gleaned from this website.

I can only offer my experience with this keyboard. Its very high quality, and has a great feel. I've been very happy with it.

Thank you RickyTick. I had heard that those keyboards did not light up very well and that there was not enought room on the wrist rest for your left hand. I must admit though I think I like the look of it better than then Eclipse II. Is the back light enought that you can see the keys in the dark?

I read this review, and it kinkda helped push me toward the Eclipse II, especially since I don't have enough room for the Merc. But I tend to trust first hand experience over reviews.

Thanks again.

If you go to this thread you can click on my links that show my keyboard. It's hard to tell from the picture how good or bad the keyboard backlit is, but this picture was taken with all the lights on in the room and the window blinds open. I can see it great at night while gaming.

Thanks for the pictures. I really liked the way that keyboard looks, and I found it on sale for around $50 so I jumped in and ordered it. Wouldn't you know right after I ordered I see that newegg puts the Eclipse and the EclipseII on sale. :p Oh well, I that is what I get for checking again after I had made my ordered. Anyway I am anxiously awaiting my new keyboard. When it comes in, I'll post and let you know what I think. Thank you for you imput. :D

Just a quick note to say that I've had the keyboard for a few weeks now and it is GREAT. It is easy to see in the dark and has a great feel. I like the extra keys, but I had to disable the one that opens the dvd. I kept hitting the key by mistake and then my game would launch when I'd close it. BTW, changing the command for the keys is extremely easy. The wrist pad is not worth much to me because it is not big enough on the left side. No big deal, I just took it off and used my old wrist pad. Thanks again RickyTick for the suggestion.:)
