So, over the holidays i was at a friends and played Rock Band 2 on a ps3... was a total BLAST!

Anyways -- I have decided to get a PS3. Which means I gotta figure out how to give it access to the internets.

I have a cable modem from comcast, connected to my homebuild with an ethenet cable.

I know I gotta get a router to connect both console and pc.

It goes:

From the wall -- cable goes to the router.
From the router -- ethernet goes to the pc and console.

Do I need a new cable modem? Does the router and modem need to play nice together?

Thanks in advance!

It's as simple as plugging the ethernet cable from your cable modem into your router - there should be a port on the back of most routers that says something like "Internet/WAN" or "Connect to modem". Just plug the cable modem into there, plug an ethernet cable from your PC to the router and it should all work. You might need to reset your router before the connection becomes available, which can be done via the configuration page.

Curse you US types for having Rock Band on PS3 already... :(
