HELP! No Monitor recognition

I did I have done the whole build and am ready for the initial boot. I connected the monitor and turned the system on and the system powers, CD drive spins, motherboard lights up, etc. but the monitor does not receive any signal from the tower. I am at a loss. I know the monitor works...am receiving a "no signal" message.
