About $1,700 now, and when it drops to $1,500 I plan to pull the trigger. Very similar to the current recos you have in the sticky, but since it's a new year I thought I'd jump into the DDR3 fray. If I had money to burn I'd also throw in the $500 Intel SSD, but who has money to burn?

It's pretty nice, and should probably be on the MSPC high-end build, but for me it might end up on the same list as the SSD I want. My " Dream-On Machine" list...

Yeah, that's the right case. It's a little pricey, but for a Dream Build it's the one to get.

I just had an idea.

These recommended builds are certainly not exclusive to me. We could actually have more than one in the same Sticky. Something like; RickyTick's Recommended build, Chunkylover's Build, Wise Monkey's Rec Build, Zburns, etc etc. I might be fun. What do you think?

More than one in the same sticky would be cool. But to be honest, I think they'd all end up looking pretty similar, don't you think? I like the way you have them set up now, but maybe consolidate all into one sticky.

I'd like to see a "super-budget" ($400-$500), "gaming budget" ($500-$675), mid-range or "gaming sweet spot" (maybe $1,000 or less), and "money is no object". Maybe "name" them after the moderators? I think Rob's current reco on MSPC fits the gaming sweet spot.

Plus, you don't want anything named after me. I think my nickname freaks people out, because most people don't get the Homer Simpson reference. Hey, that would be a nice new year's gift! Rob could break the rules and change my name for me!

IMO, save your money on the expensive ram, and get 1333. Performance is only about 1% more with 1600. Use that money to get a board with SAS ports. Then ditch the raptor drive, and get a Fujitsu SAS drive at 15,000 RPMS. I use The P6T6 revolution, because it has endless options and add ons. ASUS support sucks, just so you know.

If you have unlimited resources, then it's probably best having SAS drives, but why would you choose one over an SSD drive? This 64GB OCZ drive is $225 at the moment:

I'm all about advice. If you have a few minutes, why don't you post a full rig for me. I'm not a heavy gamer, so I don't need anything more than single GPU, but I'd like to see what your thoughts are on a full setup. Plus I'd like to hear your thoughts on WM's question. I was only going with the raptor until SSD comes down. To be honest, I haven't seen much on SAS. Is it the future, or is it Betamax and HDDVD?
