My apologies...

I have studied input I received from several of the mods along with other forum participants...as well as numerous other threads.

My goal is to build a future-proof gaming system that offers expandibility and performance. While the i7 motherboards are a little pricey, the i7 cpu and DDR3 memory pricing has hit a sweetspot that is attractive to me.

I want to play any game I choose in full detail / effects.

The biggest question I had is the video card. I'm still struggling with 4870x2 1GB vs 2GB memory...big cost difference...not sure if I want/need it.

One game in particular would be Everquest. I am planning on multiboxing several accounts at the same time. I read an interesting article regarding SSD drives & doing this with WoW. The author of the article opened up like 17 accounts on an SSD drive in 32 seconds. Since EQ doesn't write much I'm thinking a small dedicated SSD drive for EQ might make sense? It will give me fast zone load times and better performance when boxing multiple accounts/characters.

I see the lack of response here, I'll offer what little I can.

For a gaming PC that looks up to task. However you speak of the F word that is not spoken in
PC circles. Futureproofing. It really is a losing effort.

Performance certainly seems fantastic.
Expandability may be a bit in question.
Afterall, new technologies need some time to incubate a little and have kinks worked out.
They also have a tendancy take turns that abandon what was once thought of as 'the future'.

ie
Blu-ray lost the war only to come back as a main-stay once again. It looked like it was going the way of the laserdisc.

Video card - the 2 gig card is big.
I can't speak better than the multitude of reviews that are out in cyberspace right now. It's really worth your time to do some searching.
The pros and cons of different configurations are too much to get into here.

As for your particular gaming question, I have no experience with it to offer knowledge from.
