MotherBoard: Asustek P5Q Pro Intel P45 ATX
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB graphics card
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Tower Gaming Case BOUGHT
Ram : 2x2GB, DDR2 800MHZ CL4 or 2x2GB DDR2 1066MHZ CL5
Power: Supply: Corsair TX750 non modular, but very well made (trusted brand) and very recommended.(won lots of rewards and has good reviews)
DVD Writer: Asustek DRW-2014L1T Serial-ATA DVD Writer
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium OEM 64-bit OR ULTIMATE??? a waste of $$$?
Hard Drive: Western Digital 640GB SATA 7200rpm hard drive

Keyboard: Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard: OR G15
Logitech G5 Laser Mouse

PC will be used for gaming and i dont plan to upgrade any thing besides the Graphics card for 2-3 years, maby upgrade to windows 7 if its good. Next major upgrade will probaly be when the i7 cpus come down and there Mobos plus DDR3 RAM, gonna hold off to cpu bootle necks my graphics card. Thats why i dont know if i should go quad or Duo, if not planing to upgrade fro 2-3 years.

Any comments/ recommendations, any compatibility issues?
Thanks

The E8400 will outperform that Q9300 and is about $50 less.

I would probably go with the DDR2 800 ram.

Unless you need remote access to your computer, Ultimate is a waste of money on a gaming pc. Definately get the 64-bit.

"I would probably go with the DDR2 800 ram."

I thought you get the fastest ram as you expect your Front Side Bus to go?

Can you tell me why you would pick DDR2 800 RAM over DDR2 1066 RAM?

Thanks

The fact that it is CL4 vs CL5 plays a much larger part in performance than 800 vs 1066.

But i also heard that you would not be able to tell the difference between the different timmings, espically on a intel PC

Exactly.

I doubt you would be able to tell the difference while gaming with either of these sets of ram.

They just restocked. Any way foudn it cheaper http://www.ifocus.co.nz/Memory/Desktop+Memory/CORSAIR+XMS2+DHX+4GB+%282+x+2GB%29+DDR2-800+Dual+Channel+Kit.html Which one should i go for then? I found some good reviews about that specific Crossair RAM but cant seem to find any for that G.Skill RAM.

Theres also http://www.c1com.co.nz/shop/step1.php?number=15586 how do i choose which ram to get there all the same, pretty cheap, but cant find any reviews and dont know what to type in google to find reviews for these two G.skill DDR2 RAMS?

Also quick question would you recommend a Corsair TX750 (not modular) over a Corsair HX620(modular) for just $14 NZ dollars more?

You could read the User Reviews at Newegg, but sometimes they're not very accurate. You could go to the website for the motherboard and send a message to their Tech Support and they'll be glad to recommend ram for you.

Look through here.

Thanks RickyTicky for the help. As this is my first time building a computer is it worth buying RAM with a heatsink all ready on the RAM?
