Hello everyone i have been reading these forums for quite a while and finally decided to build my own pc. I want to build an incredibly fast pc without the incredibly high price, i'm mostly a multiple app kind of guy but i do enjoy the occasional hardcore game that are made for pc's these days but with so many choices out there it makes it very hard to make up my mind on which route i will take. Can anyone give any suggestions on what kind of Motherboard, video card and processor combinations would be perfect for my style of pc needs? Please someone help me upgrade from my incredibly sloooooowwwwwwww pc, thanks for any suggestions and please bare with for I am a noob so i do & will appreciate the patience with everyone.

Welcome Redline.

What country are you in?
How much money do you want to spend?
Does the build need to include a monitor?
Are you wanting to use parts from an old 'puter?

Hello Rickytick

I looking to spend minimum of 1,000 dollars
also looking for a new monitor
and no, not using any old pc parts I want this build to be fresh from the the ground up.
My buddy gave me his Antec Sonata III case since he upgraded to some see-through case, this is going to be my starting point.

I live in the states by the way.....

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-EP45- UD3P $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128358

Video Card - HIS Radeon HD4850 $160
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161235

CPU - Intel E8500 $188
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115036

Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE16 640gb $70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218

Ram - 4gb (2x2gb) DDR2 1066 $60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166

Optical Drive - Samsung SH-S223Q $28

Operating System - Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116488

Total $720

So that leaves $280 for monitor, mouse, and keyboard. You can find a really nice 20" monitor for around $200.

There are better video cards available, but I wasn't sure if a 10" card would fit in the Sonata III.
This includes a 64 bit operating system that you'll need for all that multi-tasking.

Thanks RickyTick.
That already sounds like a nice rig, thanks for your input i'll consider it but in the meantime i'm going to keep researching and learn the most i can. What do you think of the Asus P5Q3 Deluxe w/ WIFI, i knows its a little more pricy and it takes DDR3 memory but is it worth it???

At some point in the near future DDR3 will be the mainstream ram, but today its price just doesn't seem to justify the slight increase in performance.

4gb of quality DDR2 ram is very very fast with a good processor and motherboard, and will breeze through most all apps and games.

I am in the same boat as this guy. Never built a computer always wanted to just never had the funds. I use to be up to date with all the necassary parts for a PC but in the past 2 years I've fallen outta it and I am now clueless. I want to build a BEAST of a comp. I am going to have a budget of $2,000 for just the tower. Not including Keyboard mouse or monitor. Any suggestions or ideas? I want this computer to be able to run the hardest games on the market on high settings well. There are some games that are out or comming out soon I really wanna get to play and all I have right now is an old school laptop. This computer will be strictly for games, watching movies and surfing the web. Please help as I have no idea what to do!
