Can you do a clean install without any OS already installed?
If so,
does the work around still work?
You need to have a previous upgrade acceptable OS installed, like Windows XP. But it does not have to be activated.

Ah, okay cool so I can just use any Xp media, and then have the trial, and that would suffice?
Also I don't know if this is against the boards, but it is all over the net, and Microsoft as far as I read doesn't care as far as patching it, kind of comes down to an ethic thing.
Basically, should I have to pay a ton for full retail, or get an OEM and not be able to upgrade hardware at all, or do I get upgrade, and technically violate EULA by doing the workaround.
The work around is:
You install Vista without putting the product key in and select your vista, install, then run the vista media cd from inside the vista trial. Works same as XP trial, but I heard vista installs faster.
