hi,

i built my computer during the christmas break, so it's been almost a year now :)
But sometimes im just doing w/e on it, and the screen turns blue and has a bunch of numbers and letters then it restarts the computer, and that all happens within 2 seconds.

This has only happened 3 times since i built it in december, but i'd think that it shouldnt be happening at all.

my processor is the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66ghz, but i overclocked it to 3.00ghz and i've tested it overnight with orthos and no problems were found.

so if anyone has an idea of whats causing the crashes, please reply.

- thanks

I've seen this topic posted a lot on several different forums, and not every one's cause and/or solution is the same.

I had it a lot when playing Call of Duty 4, but as soon as Vista Service Pack 1 came out, mine went away. It did happen once a couple of weeks ago, but I was playing on a modded server, and hasn't happened since. I think my issue was driver related.

Suggestions
Make sure you're using the latest video driver
Windows Vista or XP is updated
Download some program that monitors tempuratures. (Real Temp 2.0)
Run OCCT to stress test cpu.
Check ram voltage, make sure its set to recomendations of the manufacturer.
Memtest

Thats all I can think of right now. Hope that helps some. Good luck.
