View Full Version : Bad Motherboard?

So, I needed a very simple computer to do nothing but collect emails and run Quickbooks. The only "hopeful" deal was to use the HDD from the previous computer. It is running XP Pro so my obvious thought was to build my own "box" and deal with a "clean" system to get around the proprietary driver issues that usually come with a Dell, HP..etc.

So I buy a little Asus PSGC-MX/1333, a 3.0GHZ DUAL CORE Pentium chip, 2gigs of ram (there was a $15.00 rebate at Fry's so the second chip was $5.00 extra) you get the idea.

Everything turns on just fine but no signal to the "on-board" video, mouse or keyboard port. Am I missing something or, did I actually pick-up a faulty motherboard?

Is the light on the motherboard lit when turned on? If not could be a bad power supply.

Are the fans coming on when you hit the power button?

I had something simliar happen to me but before I say it is a bad motherboard I would check to make sure all plugs are connected correctly.
