Everything works, but no beep...

All fans,switches, and lights power up and operate. Monitor comes up and says something about booting or rebooting and to press any key when ready. I should have written it down, but I thought someone might know what i'm talking about. I press a key and I get a duplicate message. There are no hard drives or disc drives installed yet.
Oh, and it's my first build so that doesn't help either...

Probably because you haven't put any hard drive in, so it has nowhere to boot from. Make all the BIOS changes you need to, then install the hard drive and disc drives so you can install your operating system.

Thanks, I thought I should hear a beep even without a hard drive installed. Also, how do I change the BIOS if I just get another 'boot/reboot' msg at every keystroke? I don't think I'm understanding the sequence of events needed to do this properly, i'll keep reading up on it.
