I'd like to garner opinions on the correctness of the following listed combo:
MOBO, CPU (and cooler) & MEMORY
===============================
* ASUS M3A78 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
* ZALMAN CNPS7000B-ALCU 92mm 2 Ball Cooling Fanl
* AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor
* CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual
Channel Kit Desktop Memory
CASE & POWER SUPPLY
==================
* LIAN LI PC-65B Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (is there any other choice?)
* Antec NeoPower 650 Blue 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready
Modular Active PFC Power Supply
OTHER STUFF
===========
* EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
* Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
* LINKSYS LNE100TX 10/ 20/ 100/ 200Mbps PCI EtherFast LAN Card 1 x RJ45 - OEM
* Pioneer Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM
40X CD-R 32X CD-RW 40X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - OEM '
I use my 'puter mainly for hacking. I'm learning both Linux and Python, and this is going to be purely a Linux box. My older computer (the one I'm on now) dual boots between Linux and (when absolutely necessary) Windows XP. I'm gonna give it over to full-time Windows, so I can go over there when necessary to twiddle away with apps that are Windows dependent. I'm gonna connect the two of them with a router; then, I'll have two boxes folding for the Stanford University Protein Folding study (Abit Team, for anyone who's curious).
For what it's worth, this all adds up to around $800 over at NewEgg (and, why go elsewhere?)
So, what's the concensus of the discerning minds gathered here? :D
