my first build was pretty much exactly what Rob suggested. it went so well i was hooked and decided to upgrade my old pc. well one thing led to another and this is how it turned out. comments and suggestions welcomed.

case: antec 900
psu: antec neopower 650 blue modular
mobo: asus M3A78-T
cpu: AMD phenom 9850 BE 2.5g quad
memory: 4x1gig crucial 1066
cooler: zalman 9500
video: ati radeon HD4850
HDD's: 74g WD raptor 10k & seagate 750
optical: sony DVD writer
monitors: 2 samsung 19" 931b- retained from old pc
speakers: yamaha yst-ms50 subwoofer and satelittes- retained from old pc
OS: vista ultimate 64

Wow, blazer. That looks great. Are you sure you need Ultimate? Home Premium works just fine.

i bought ultimate awhile back cuz i wanted the remote desktop feature.
i know now that home premium can be modified for it.

i went to a 24" monitor instead of the dual 19's. swapped the zalman 9500 for a 9700 for better cooling and the blue leds of the 9700 are a better match.
i've never overclocked before but was able to clock the cpu to 3 ghz up from 2.5 and overclocked the video card also.
i can run crysis at 1920x1080 with all settings on high and it looks awesome.
