Hello,

I am planning to assemble my own home server. For this I need to know something about the processor ? Let's say when I select an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor does it mean that it has 4 processors inbuilt or it is capable that I can add more processors to it ?

Its very important to know because I am looking for some high end processing power for my server I am building.

Thanks,
SC

You might consider the Xeon processors. I think they are more designed for servers. iirc

If money is a problem, buy an AMD processor. From comparing prices they are a lot cheaper than the intel ones.

You can buy motherboard which support two CPUs, giving a total of 8 cores.

A Quad Core CPU means that it has effectively 4 CPUs on one chip.
