I was gona buy the AMD but seeing how many choose intel over AMD I'm having doubts, the athlon 6000+ is like 80$ cheaper and has almost the same specs yet so many buy the E8400, how come?

Although they have about the same clock speeds, the architecture is completely different - the E8400 performs a lot better across the board than the 6000+.

and its worth the additional 80$? >_<

wouldnt you rather buy Q6600 and overclock it? :S

I'd have the Q6600 personally, but it depends what you are going to be using the PC for. If its mostly for gaming, then the E8400 will be faster, but if it is for Video/Photo editing then the Q6600 will be faster.

And yes, it is definitely worth the extra $80. :)

why would E8400 be faster for games? only better thing it has I see is the clock speed, is that what makes it faster? just curious :P

it seems that I'll be buying the E8400 :P

The E8400 is the newest generation of CPUs from Intel, so it has a slightly better architecture than the Q6600 - uses 45nm instead of 65nm. Also, the higher clock speed and the fact that a large majority of games do not support more than two cores means that it will perform a lot better.

Even if you buy a Q6600 and overclock it to the same speed as the e8400, it will still not perform as well in games.
