New Gaming PC Build, need recommendations

hey guys im here again, i gave the other computer u guys suggested to me before to my brother and now im planning to make another one for myself,

im just basically considering the same thing, $1500ish future proof gaming computer that would i can update/upgrade easily for a long long time

hmm i duno if i missed something but that totalled $1163.94..... also i would like to ask for help or suggestions for cooling.. cause most of the time my routine is just work play work play and i overheat my laptop alot and i dont want to get the same problem with this desktop so please if u can suggest cooling system for critical components, that would be awesome

also i would like to address this again, am i going to need extra cooling stuff to prevent all the components from overheating? cause sometimes when i really have nothing to do for a week i can play for up to 9 hrs straight... and usually i play like 4-6hrs/day

Go with the OS for system builders.

Unless you're overclocking, you shouldn't need to worry about cooling. The 900 is a great "cooling" case.

i got all my stuff on cart except for motherboard... >.< i've been looking at the reviews of all ur recommended mobo but the setup just scared me, since i barely know what im doing lol, (had my friend build the first one for me)

basically i just dont wana go to that trouble of getting stuck with a motherboard for tons of hours

motherboard is prolly the only part i really really am having problems with

Great setup

Stick with what Ricky said, the Asus P5Q is an awesome motherboard, good value for money. Motherboards will always fit unless there's strange parts (like a cpu cooler without a cpu backplate) or faulty parts involved.

What I like to generally do is match up the video card to the motherboard as well.

Asus version of the 9800 GTX+, higher core clock, 30 bucks cheaper and will have higher chances of being stable with your own Asus motherboard, and with your antec 900 I think cooling shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise just stick with XFX or EVGA products if your a FPS gamer.

also i was browsing around newegg and found this a BFG Tech overclocked version of the 9800 GTX+

its the same price as what you suggested but its overclocked slightly more

The BFG is a fraction better then the Asus version that we've looked at. I'd still buy the Asus version as same brand mobo + video cards absolutely love eachother, that and if you buy the Asus 9800GTX+ from newegg before 31/08/2008, you'll get $30 off which makes it cheaper than the BFG version.

All in all the BFG is also a great buy, decisions entirely up to you.

:( seems that newegg gave me the wrong OS.... instead of getting vista 64 bit home premium they gave me a 32 bit home premium...


i havent gotten the package yet but its on my receipt..

does it really matter for gaming if i use a 32 bit vs a 64 bit OS? like are there more advantages of having a 64 bit OS?

coz i dont wana go to trouble of calling cust service then mail them the OS then wait like 10 or so days to get the 64 bit one

Since you are getting 4gb of ram, you'll need the 64 bit OS to fully utilize all 4 gb. I would ask them to swap it out.
