Hello all, I am trying to build my first system. My price range is 2-2.5k for a good gaming PC. I have been going to other forums and this is what I have so far. I will be going to college next year and I want to have a monitor which will hook up to my gaming consoles (Wii, 360) as well as my PC so that I don't have to share the television with my roommate.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. :D

As far as the motherboard goes, you might find that the DS3R might be a better option than the DS4P in the same price range. The only difference is the DDR3 ram required. But that's just the price you pay for future proofing your system.

Here's a nice article on P45 motherboards.

Otherwise, it looks like an awesome gaming system.

Ah, I agree, the DS3R would be better. I don't mind going to DDR3 because I think this rig will end up on the low end of my price range as is. Anyways, what better to beef up than RAM?
